I believe in the future of agriculture presentation at Farm Wisconsin’s Breakfast at the Barn
Mike Austin has been a familiar voice and face for agriculture in Wisconsin for over 40 years, and will headline Farm Wisconsin Discovery Center’s October Breakfast at the Barn on October 24th. Doors will open at 7:15am with the breakfast buffet starting at 7:30am and presentation beginning at 8:00am.
Austin’s presentation, “I believe in the future of agriculture”, will focus on the optimistic future for farmers despite the dwindling numbers in production agriculture and the challenges facing them. He will share the many reasons including the people and technology currently in the industry along with what is coming up in the future.
Before retiring this spring, Austin spent the past 38 years in Green Bay broadcasting agricultural reports for Midwest Communication radio stations in Green Bay, Sheboygan and Wausau. Austin also spent nearly 34 years reporting on Agriculture for first WBAY -TV and then WFRV-TV.
Besides his broadcast duties, Austin also served as either a speaker or emcee for numerous agricultural events including banquets, conventions, conferences, fairs, and breakfasts on the farm.
Austin also has been active in his community and church and has worked with many youth organizations including 4-H, FFA, Scouts and youth sports.
For his efforts, Austin has received the Carol Brewer Broadcast Association award for his community service and named the Town of Bellevue Volunteer of the year award. Austin has also received numerous recognitions from farm organizations and commodity groups for his farm broadcasts and coverage.
The breakfast buffet begins at 7:30am with presentation starting at 8am. Purchase your tickets ahead of time either online at farmwisconsin.org/tickets or at Farm Wisconsin’s front desk by October 22nd. The breakfast and presentation are included in the ticket price. Tickets are $10 for Farm Wisconsin members and $15 for non-members. Non-members may also add a tour of Farm Wisconsin for an additional $5.
